Frequently Asked Questions

A Rotarian is a person who looks beyond himself or herself to the community, nation and the world. A Rotarian seeks the truth, lets fairness govern relationships and strives to benefit all in every interpersonal relationship. In short, he or she puts Service Above Self.

We welcome new members. We cordially invite you to join us at a meeting and check us out! For information on membership, contact Kathleen Defever at kathleen.defever.rotary@gmail.com

The Rotary Club of Tiburon-Belvedere expects members to contribute financially in several ways.

  • Annual Dues: Dues are payable by July 1 and include club membership, membership in Rotary International and a subscription to Rotarian magazine. We have several different types of membership, with an eye toward making Rotary accessible for everyone! Reach out and we'll find the membership that works for you.
  • Annual Assessment: An annual charitable donation, which is currently a suggested $200, goes into the Rotary Club of Tiburon-Belvedere Foundation account for charitable purposes and is due on January 30. The Rotary Club of Tiburon-Belvedere Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
  • Every Rotarian, Every Year: Every Rotarian is expected to make a donation to the Rotary International Foundation’s annual campaign. The suggested donation is $250, but the foundation will accept any amount, and even $25 counts. Half of the money goes to important global initiatives, such as End Polio Now and Rotary Peace Centers, and an equal amount is returned to the club to use for district or global grant projects after three years. When the cumulative amount a member gives reaches $1,000, he or she receives distinction as a Paul Harris Fellow, one of Rotary’s highest honors.
  • Meetings: The meeting fee is $10 for regular meetings. Pricing for special meetings, such as the Educator of the Year lunch, is announced in advance.
  • Special Events: Members are encouraged to attend special events, such as the Holiday Party, the annual installation of officers and club fundraisers.

A new member receives a red badge at induction and receives a blue badge to become a full-fledged member after meeting the following requirements:

  • Introducing yourself to the club with a brief presentation about your life, family and work.
  • Attending at least one Board of Directors meeting. Meetings take place at a date, time and place to be announced each month.
  • Helping to sell tickets for a drawing at a luncheon meeting. (Drawings currently on hiatus, but returning soon.)
  • Inviting a guest or introducing Visiting Rotarians at a meeting.
  • Attending a meeting of another Rotary Club.
  • Volunteering for at least one committee assignment.

  • Being part of a large circle of friends and acquaintances in the local business and professional community.
  • Being in the mainstream of our community’s activities alongside local movers and shakers.
  • Increased knowledge of businesses and professions in the community.
  • The opportunity to develop an understanding of the successes and challenges of others in the community.
  • The opportunity to seek the counsel of other Rotarians.
  • Recognition of one’s business or profession in the community, which is the result of participating in an organization dedicated to community and international humanitarian, educational and vocational projects.
  • Contacts in every business and profession represented in the club membership, as well as others in clubs around the world.
  • Broadening your and your partner’s social life.
  • Finding individuals with whom to share hobbies and other interests.
  • Increased knowledge of world affairs and customs of other cultures, as well being a part of a network with a presence in almost every city in the world.
  • Being able to express and put into action noble desires.
